Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte Waverly

Beautiful new modern hotel. Perfect area. Front desk team in the evening and morning were amazing. The rooms were nice and clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying again.

I have stayed at this hotel and reserved for family members and co-workers when they visit Charlotte. A year ago, this hotel was immaculate. Now, it's not as clean. The elevator floors were dirty. There were fingerprints on the elevator doors. There was some paint and wall paper that was peeling in several places. In my bathroom, there were dried urine stains on both walls. I hope management pays attention to these details and makes some fresh updates. I definitely didn't like being assigned a handicapped equipped room, when I didn't request one and there were other vacancies in the hotel. Fortunately, I was given another room when I went back to the desk to request another room.

Rooms are nice but not checking in with a mobile key is really a dissatisfaction for Marriott. I find courtyards to be the worse value to service. Would be nice if they had this policy stated. Front desk was rude after 10pm as typical.

I've stayed at this location at least a dozen times. Originally I was very impressed with the quality of the rooms. Unfortunately, with my most recent stay, the air quality was very low with a high concentration of visibly floating dust. I didn't notice until after I started excessively sneezing. Attempting to tolerate this was a bad idea as I woke up the next morning coughing and with a seed of a sinus infection. I didn't think it would be useful complaining about this but as I was leaving I noticed another guest coughing. I think this was the most important negative aspect of my stay. Outside of this, I checked in on the app before arriving. I arrived 2 hours later than I checked in but my key wasn't ready, and I was asked to run my card that was already on file but unlike other locations, the most important part, my ID wasn't checked. On top of this, when I first approached the desk, the man behind it was buried in his phone, to the point it almost seemed intentional for him to not notice the sound of me coming through the doors and approaching the desk. He was so inattentive, that while I was standing, waiting for him to acknowledge me, I had time to call the hotel on my own phone. Once the front desk phone rang from me calling it, he went to pick it up but I hung up after the first ring. That's when he acknowledged me with an annoyed tone, "can I help you?" Wow. I should have recorded a video instead.

*** edited in response hotel's post below. Buyer beware, please exercise caution when staying here and be sure to check your billing before leaving. The room was paid for and under my wife's name and card. How they could investigate and conclude that we made these charges based off my name is BEYOND my comprehension. After contacting multiple staff members, we have received no concrete help and only accusations. Neither my wife nor I used any of the hotel's extra services. While this charge is not an absurd amount of money, it still matters. Fraud is a serious accusation, and I do not make this claim lightly. We will be contacting and communicating with the corporate office and our personal bank from here on out. This has been an absolutely miserable experience and wish we had gone with a different hotel from the start of our trip. As an additional note, after having to call the front desk the second night we should have been OFFERED to switch rooms instead of being treated as an annoyance. Myself and my wife typically do intense research before choosing a hotel. Our vacation time is limited and we want to be sure we enjoy ourselves when travelling. When choosing this hotel we made certain that it primarily accommodates to businesses in hopes of avoiding specific issues. We both do not require much tending to. While our check in went seamlessly our evening was not. On the first night of our stay we were more than willing to let the constant disruptions not hamper our good mood. Our first night was met with constant sounds of screaming, running, and thumps from neighboring rooms and outside hallway well past midnight. We come to find out a sports team was occupying our floor with us being one of the few rooms not involved with the team. This would have been a great opportunity to be moved to another room/or floor the following night but were assured the other guests had been asked to be reasonable. We always want to be understanding and flexible so we took this reassurance as trustworthy and didnt make a fuss. The next night was the exact same situation with exception to our wall now vibrating from music. We have no interest in confrontation so we moved on from the issue after having called the front desk and receiving the same message with no results. After giving up two nights of sleep that we desperately needed for the weekend and drive home, we decided to call the stay a loss. At least we enjoyed our time elsewhere and got to enjoy the local activities NC has to offer. Upon leaving, we noticed there were additional charges from the bar sent to our room. Both I and my wife were in one anothers presence our entire stay nor do either of us drink (in any capacity whatsoever). Upon calling the front desk, customer service, and the on duty manager, we were effectively told that they did not believe us. Our attempts to contact higher management were ignored or pushed off. After many calls and receiving no help, or resolution from Sonia (operations manager) or Layla (General Manager) we decided to contact our bank. This was almost two weeks of back and forth conversation with absolutely no resolution. Someone had committed an act of fraud against us while staying at the hotel and the staff seems to be fully complacent with the act. We have even begged the staff to review security footage as both of us are very identifiable and at no point visited or even went physically near the bar. If you decide to stay here be sure to check your room charges after your stay. This specific location seems perfectly content to accept fraud so long as it is in their benefit. This was our second stay at the hotel but will be our last, there is more than enough competition in the area that is actually worried about meeting their guests needs.
