AC Hotel Charlotte Ballantyne

Loved the Hotel overall. The staff was awesome. The location is amazing with all if the shops literally across the street with several good dining and cocktail options. The in house bar is relaxing and very nice. The lounge and seating areas were very nice as well. Its a well thought out place. My only two complaints are that the bed was hard for my liking and after 4 days became fairly uncomfortable. The ac was either very cold or not on and the room temp never got within 4 degrees plus or minus the thermostat setting. I'd stay again.

Front desk locked out their only usable reservation password, forcing 4 or more families to wait 30 minutes. Passwords are written on post-its under the keyboard, and one person's password is being used by multiple people. It's 1 AM, travelling mostly by airplane since 9 AM. The entire front desk staff has reclined to their locked office. Some security training is in order. Otherwise, beautiful place, rooms are modern and efficient, lots of fun stuff (equipment and yoga rooms), and quiet, except for a ventilation fan. Located inside a cute outdoor garden mall with a number of services and eateries.

The hotel itself is beautiful and in a great location. I booked and paid for two nights in September through a third party. When checking in, I was charged again for the same two nights. Once the error was realized, the front desk said a manager would need to work on a refund the next morning. I spoke with two more people before check out to inquire about the refund. I kept being told they would work on it and call me when it was issued. I never received a call. A week after our stay, I called to speak with the manager on duty. She said it was her first time hearing of this issue. She looked up the reservation and saw the "hold" on my card was released. The hold was for incidentals. I was still not refunded for the actual double charge for the room. It is now two weeks past our stay and I still do not have a refund on my card. I even called my CC company to verify there were no refunds pending. I now have a pending claim with Marriott as well as a pending dispute with my CC company.

My husband and I are staying for an anniversary trip and we are just simply impressed!! Amazing hotel, friendly and professional staff, and top notch housekeeping staff. All the staff have been so accommodating to us and the room was clean and smelling so good! We love this hotel and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it as your hotel of choice while in Charlotte. We will definitely be staying here again..

Cons: - A gold necklace went missing from my travel jewelry case. The hotel manager said the housekeeper denied taking it so they would not take responsibility for it. If she took it, did they expect her to admit it? My room was cleaned on our second day of stay and I noticed the jewelry missing that evening. No one else but the housekeeping service was in the room. I tried on the necklace the night before and it was tangled so I put it back in the case as its a delicate piece, thus I know it was there. Yes, I should have used the safe for my gold jewelry, it just never crossed my mind that I had to worry about theft at a Marriott hotel in an upscale neighborhood. It was a very dear peace to me as it was my moms so this is very upsetting. I would never try to get someone in trouble just for the sport of it, this is a serious violation of my privacy and safety at a presumably reputable establishment. Other cons: -Stayed in room 218, even though the reservation for our 10 person business group was made weeks ahead of time for the city view rooms, none of us got it. - rude front desk staff - very hard beds - closet/ coffee bar area - very small, cant hang longer dresses or pants. If youre in Charlotte for business and bring suits and other business type of clothing for more than one day its difficult to keep it presentable in that closet and there are only 2 tiny drawers that maybe fit undergarments, no dressers in the room. And only 4 hangers in the closet area, and it has no doors. And thats where the coffee maker lives as well- very odd and not sanitary. -spotty cleanliness- dirt and hair trapped in corners and around couch, bed and bench legs, and around the toilet base. - very loud AC/heat system/ vent - expense breakfast - 2 tiny complimentary bottles of water every other day per room, $4 water bottles in the kiosk by the front desk -water/ice machine in the hallway was broken, hallway microwave - also broken/non functioning Pros: the only reason I even gave it 2 stars -newer and modern hotel -nice lobby -lobby bar with a decent choice of cocktails and beer, I dont drink but they offer non alcoholic drinks -wide hallways that smell well with new clean carpet -spacious rooms -spacious bathroom with a large shower and large lit up mirror, mounted large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel that smell very nice, good quality towels - quality comforter, not too heavy or too light I will not stay here again! Debating our membership pros and cons, and our business travel arrangements with Marriott in the future.
